Navigating The System When Your Children Are At Stake

As individuals prepare to divorce, they often first ask about their children. Where will they live? Where will they go to school? What will be my role in their life?

My name is Angela Cooper. I understand that family is paramount, and your children are your top priority. I believe that the goal in any divorce matter is evaluating what is in the best interest of the children involved.  I can evaluate your case, create an individualized strategy for success and work to achieve the goals you have set.

Understanding Custody Considerations

The court will determine parental responsibility and timesharing based on the best interest of the children. This best interest is decided based on many factors, including, but not limited to:

  • The demonstrated capacity and disposition of each parent to facilitate and encourage a close and continuing parent-child relationship, to honor the time-sharing schedule, and to be reasonable when changes are required.
  • The anticipated division of parental responsibilities after the litigation, including the extent to which parental responsibilities will be delegated to third parties.
  • The demonstrated capacity and disposition of each parent to determine, consider, and act upon the needs of the child as opposed to the needs or desires of the parent.
  • The length of time the child has lived in a stable, satisfactory environment and the desirability of maintaining continuity.

I also offer services regarding child custody modifications and child relocations.
